Skeptical News:

Is circumcision cultural imperialism? -Email:

“Some people really seem to think even male circumcision to prevent HIV is cultural imperialism or the Jews conspiracy to promote their values/religion on the poor dark-skinned folks of america and Africa. I know you talked about female circumcision (if it can even be called that!) before but idk if u talked about effectiveness of male circumcision or whether or not it should be promoted to combat aids. Especially when most of the people in the developed world aren’t circumcised and are often involved in growing movements to ban it (as in San Francisco’s proposed ban). Furthermore, the skeptic community seems to be mixed on it; on the one hand, famous skeptic “celebrities” like Christopher Hitchens and Penn and Teller seem to think of it as nothing more than the modern medical establishments relying on cruel Jewish folklore to base this unncessary and costly procedure. Whereas on the other hand many in the Scientific communitity seem to deem it safe and effective to combat HIV. ”
