Skeptical Highlights:

-One-Minute Physics

It’s a collection of videos and animations that take on various topics in physics. For example the latest one, How do we know we live in three dimensions? Explores the concept of multiple dimensions and shows one way to test that we live in a 3D world.

-James Randi Canadian speaking tour: Starts Thursday the 22nd in Vancouver at the Denman Cinema, Randi will also be speaking in Kelowna, Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal and Halifax over the next 9 days. If you’re in one of those cities be sure to check out his talk!

Check out http://www.cficanada.ca for more info on all the cities and venues.

-The Movie Contagion
Yes, it’s Hollywood so take with a grain of salt, but there are some pretty interesting underlying themes. I heard an interview with one of the scientists who consulted for the film and she had a few interesting conditions to work on it:
1) virus can’t come from space
2) virus can’t come from Africa
3) the problem can’t be solved quickly and easily after a discovery

4) the virus can’t be an “escaped experiment” ie no demonizing scientists ala Deep Blue Sea

They even throw in some sensationalistic psuedoscience demonization and incorporate some consepts that, although they’re presented in kind of a worst case scenario way, are real elements of a viral epidemic. Not your run-of-the-mill infectious appocolypse movie
